The mission of "openGov" is to create a free and open forum on a private/personal basis to discuss and foster the use of Free/Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS), with members mainly coming from the Belgian public services.
FOSDEM is the biggest free and non-commercial event organized by and for the community. Its goal is to provide Free and Open Source developers a place to meet. No registration necessary.
Agoria's eGov-Award voor Innovatie gaat dit jaar naar een project waarbij researchers van COSIC (KU Leuven) een Android-toepassing ontwikkelen op basis van eID en software van Fedict.
Outerthought werkt aan een nieuw systeem om grote hoeveelheden data te beheren: Lily. Het is gebaseerd op Apache producten zoals de Solr zoekmachine en het Hadoop framework. Voor de liefhebbers is er een kleine (Engelstalige) video beschikbaar, die een technische beschrijving geeft aan de hand van een mailbox-voorbeeld.
Het Nederlandse programma NOiV heeft onlangs een gebruikersgroep rond ODF opgericht - het open documentformaat dat door onder andere OpenOffice en LibreOffice ondersteund wordt. De ODF nieuwsbrief van Fedict kwam ook even ter sprake.
The main theme of this conference will be about “Open Government”, emphasizing to the implementation of cross-border interoperability in practice. Topics and themes like the presentation of a number of large international projects (STORK, SPOCS, PEPPOL,epSOS), the eGovernment Action Plan 2011-2015 or Europe 2020 – The Digital Agenda will feature large in the Conference Program.
